ABOUT: Waking from the American Dream
Anyone who has ever been "sold a bill of goods" will tell you that they had been conned - that they received the minimal value of a piece of paper instead of the value described upon it which had been promised to them. That sums up the current experience of many citizens of the USA about the American Dream:
the promises of justice, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in the Declaration of Independence have been reneged upon -
the individual rights promised within the Bill of Rights are available, but only for those who can afford them -
the continual decline in the relative value of the paper dollars of our income and savings -
the small and declining percentage of the national tax bill paid by the wealthy and by large corporations, relative to the large and growing percentage paid by the struggling middle class -
and the general corruption of the process of government and the Democratic Ideal by unrestrained capitalism, also known as BIG MONEY.
It all adds up to a con-job, the bill-of-goods.us

Justice, Liberty, the Bill of Rights and the Constitution:
Seeking fair treatment, legal recourse, or restitution in our justice system is now prohibitively expensive for most of us.
Attorneys are the only ones with standing in the legal system, the rest of us cannot speak or be recognized.
Losing a civil court case, regardless of whether the appeal for justice was reasonable, usually involves incurring incredible debts for the opponents legal fees and court costs, making it prohibitive and punitive to seek justice.
The civil liberties and rights of the individual are being further eroded in the interest of expedient law enforcement and security.
Corporations - abstract and faceless business entities - are now considered to have the some of the same constitutional rights as real individuals as well as the means to purchase influence, providing them more meaningful representation than individuals.
the Democratic Ideal:
In addition to owning the system of justice, BIG MONEY now also owns and manipulates almost all aspects of government and the democratic process.
One important role of government is to restrain capitalism and greed, to limit the profit motive to endeavors which also serve the common good, a role which is forgotten when the government is owned, lock, stock and barrel, by BIG MONEY.
the Pursuit of Happiness:
The economic health of the individual and the family has been gradually degraded by short-sighted, corrupt and incompetent economic policies and by the lack of re-investment in infrastructure, education and the neglect of the very small business sector.
The compensation gained by working for another has declined in value relative to the cost of living to the extent that most can afford a very limited life.
As a result of the decline, the relative costs of having and raising children, acquiring an education, obtaining health care and owning a home are all now out of reach for an increasingly large percentage of us.
The right of the individual to self-employ has been restricted and limited by the federal government and the states.
A combination of the governments' preference for and protection of, the interests of larger businesses has made it necessary for very small businesses to attempt to survive in spite of the government and the business climate created.
